Lily Collins: Lawrence is awesome
Lily Collins thinks her famous friend Jennifer Lawrence is "awesome".
The Hunger Games star tripped as she went up to collect her best actress accolade at this year's Academy Awards.
Jennifer handled the mishap with grace, which actress pal Lily was very impressed with.
"She’s a friend; she’s awesome. The choices Jennifer has made have been really interesting. And I loved how she carried herself after her trip [going up onstage] at the Oscars. I was like, 'You go, girl!'" she gushed to the US edition of Glamour magazine.
Lily herself is doing brilliantly in Hollywood and stars in upcoming adventure drama The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.
However, the person she considers her mentor isn't a glamorous movie star.
"My mom," she grinned.
"It has nothing to do with acting. She guides me through my personal life, telling me to experiment. She lets me borrow her vintage. She has Chanel and eighties stuff from Yohji Yamamoto and Vivienne Westwood that she got when vintage wasn’t cool. She’d wear them to events with my dad, and everyone would ask what she had on; when she said 'vintage,' they’d go, 'Oh, that’s nice,' and, you know, turn the corner."
British-and-American star Lily is the daughter of UK rocker Phil Collins and has already enjoyed a career as a journalist as a teenager.
The 24-year-old would never rely on her famous father to help her in the industry.
"No, I always wanted to do it on my own," she assured the magazine.
"I never wanted anyone making phone calls. A name can open doors, but there’s a quote I like: 'Personality can open doors, but only character can keep them open.'"
