Lindsay Lohan has reportedly been "freaking out" over her part in Scary Movie 5 as it pokes fun at her.

The troubled actress is trying to get her career back on track following numerous brushes with the law and stints in rehab.

She has a cameo in the latest instalment of the spoof horror franchise, but was reportedly concerned when she received the script. She stars opposite Charlie Sheen in her scene, with the storyline calling for them to lock lips. There were also hints at the ups and downs of Lindsay's life, which she was apparently uncomfortable with.

"It went pretty hard at Lindsay," a source told New York Post. "She'd been freaking out about it for weeks."

According to the publication, the 26-year-old star became so nervous as her filming date approached she stopped taking calls from movie producers. She also missed a flight to take her to set, then claimed she was so ill she was unable to take part.

"She is under contract - so to get out of it, she had to prove that she was sick," another insider explained. "She tried to prove she has walking pneumonia."

Another added: "She's been locked up in her room at the Bowery Hotel. She's been in a tailspin. Even Charlie Sheen worried she might not be able to do the scene."

In the end Lindsay realised she was in danger of passing up a good opportunity, so jetted in to the set via a private plane.

Her representative has denied there were any problems with filming.
