Lindsay Lohan has reportedly hired a private detective to unearth information on her alleged assault victim.
The troubled 26-year-old actress was arrested and charged with assault after apparently hitting Tiffany Eve Mitchell in the face at a New York City nightclub in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Lindsay's mother Dina suspects foul play, as Tiffany lives just minutes away from her daughter's estranged father Michael in Palm Beach, Florida.
Lindsay and her representatives, including her lawyer Mark Heller claim that all allegations in this matter are spurious.
TMZ reports that Lindsay has hired a professional investigator to possibly reveal a conspiracy against her.
The star is said to believe that Tiffany made up the story for money and would like to know if she's done something similar in the past.
The website previously reported that Lindsay has been telling friends that she never hit Tiffany. She confronted the woman because she thought Tiffany stole her bag.
Tiffany has hired famous lawyer Gloria Allred to represent her should she decide to bring a civil case against Lindsay.
Lindsay is still on probation for a jewellery theft offence and faces jail time should this be revoked in light of her new indictments.
The starlet was also charged with reckless driving, obstructing or resisting a police officer in the performance of his duty and giving false information to a police officer Thursday. These three offences were related to a car accident that occurred in June.
