Lindsay Lohan 'wants to extend rehab'
Lindsay Lohan has apparently decided not to check out of rehab tomorrow.
The 27-year-old actress is currently being treated at the Cliffside facility in Malibu, after being court-ordered to 90 days in rehab stemming from a car crash last year.
She is due to leave the establishment tomorrow after completing her stint, but it’s claimed that might not go ahead.
According to TMZ, Lindsay is wary about ending her treatment at the moment. She is keen to remain at the centre for three or four more days as she feels she needs time to adjust to the outside world.
“We're told she'd like to stay in a ‘lower level, sober living house’ which she believes will help her recovery,” reports the site.
This is the latest in a long line of rehab spells for the singer, who has been treated for alcohol and drug problems and had numerous brushes with the law. Due to her past many suspected this stint wouldn’t make much difference, but Lindsay has been taking it seriously.
Earlier this week it was reported that she has culled around 80 friends after realising they were holding back her recovery. Her loved ones have been left astounded by the change they have seen in the star.
“It's like invasion of the body snatchers. She's a different person,” one source told TMZ.
The star is planning to move from Los Angeles to New York City when she checks out of treatment, in an effort to rid herself of bad influences.
Lindsay’s career is also on the up, after she received rave reviews for her performance in The Canyons. The edgy movie is a sexual thriller, with much made of the erotic scenes the star appears in.
A premiere for the film was held at the Lincoln Center, Walter Reade Theatre in New York City last night, although Lindsay did not attend. Instead her mother Dina Lohan stood in for her and happily smiled for the cameras.
Lindsay already has some work lined up for when she leaves treatment. She will be interviewed for a TV special by Oprah Winfrey and has agreed to a reality show for the talk show titan’s OWN network. It’s also been claimed she will stand in for comedian Chelsea Lately on an edition of her show next week.
