Linford set for I'm A Celebrity

Linford Christie is reportedly set to appear in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Olympic gold medallist Linford Christie is reportedly set to head into the jungle and appear in this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The athlete has been paid £80,000 to appear on the ITV1 reality show, according to The Sun.

It reports he is preparing for the competition, where contestants are regularly set stomach-churning challenges, by having a more "exotic" diet.

The new series, presented by Ant and Dec, starts next month.

An ITV spokeswoman said she could not confirm that Christie, who won gold in the 100m at the 1992 Olympics, will be in the show.

The contestants will again be isolated from the outside world with basic food rations as they cope with the occasionally hostile environment and each other during the hunt for the king or queen of the jungle.

For many past participants, the experience was a chance to revitalise their careers and can lead to lucrative advertising careers.

Last year chef Gino D'Acampo was crowned King of the Jungle. The Italian was named the winner after the gruelling three-week competition.

Self-proclaimed Queen of Clean Kim Woodburn was runner-up and snooker ace Jimmy White came third.
