Lisa Faulkner joins EastEnders as a 'no-nonsense businesswoman'
Lisa Faulkner will play Fi Browning on BBC's EastEnders from the spring.
Lisa Faulkner is joining the cast of EastEnders as "no-nonsense businesswoman" Fi Browning.
The 45-year-old actress announced the news on Friday (03Mar17), but couldn't give too many details about her character’s arrival to Albert Square this spring.
"I'm so happy to be joining the cast of EastEnders - it's an iconic show and I can't wait to play my part in it!" Lisa said. "Fi Browning is a hugely exciting character and I'm really looking forward to working with Sean (O'Connor, executive producer) and all the team, and revealing more about her. I can't say any more now as I'm sworn to secrecy, but it's going to be a lot of fun."
Lisa found fame on Brookside, before moving to medical drama Holby City in the late ‘90s. She’s also had parts in Death in Paradise and Spooks, but in recent years has been focusing on a career in cooking after winning Celebrity Masterchef in 2010, where she also met her now-boyfriend John Torode.
Producer Sean also shared his excitement at the casting news.
"I'm really thrilled that we have been able to tempt Lisa Faulkner back to TV drama and back to the BBC," he said in a statement. "Fi Browning is something of a departure for EastEnders; a no-nonsense but sophisticated business woman with strength and vulnerability. But does she have an agenda? And who - or what - has she set her sights on?"
Lisa first got her break when she was just 16 and scouted by a model agency. She now has a lengthy and varied career to her name, and credits her success to relying on her gut instincts.
"I follow my heart and my gut a lot. And when something comes up, I’ve always grabbed it, life’s too short not to," she smiled during a recent interview with Red magazine.
