LL Cool J apprehended a thief who tried to burglarise his mansion Wednesday morning.
The 44-year-old rapper-and-actor lives with his wife of 17 years Simone and their four children at an estate in Los Angeles.
At around 1AM LL, who was upstairs, heard an odd noise. When he walked downstairs he spotted the robber, who managed to set off the home alarm system, and then immediately took him down.
When police arrived to the scene, LL had the looter restrained.
"LL Cool J and his family are safe and thank everyone for their thoughts and concern," his representatives said in a statement released to TMZ.
"As a father, husband and citizen, LL Cool J is committed to keeping his family safe and is cooperating with authorities on this private matter."
In the scuffle the intruder apparently sustained a broken jaw and nose. The man is thought to be a mentally unstable transient. He is now in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries.
LL and his clan are unharmed.
