Lloyd trumps Matt Cardle online
Cher Lloyd has beaten her former X Factor rival Matt Cardle to become the most talked about celebrity newcomer of the year, according to an internet survey.
Researchers put together a "digital buzz" list based on Google searches, Facebook, followers on Twitter and views on YouTube and the feisty teenager came ahead of second-placed Matt.
Cher was the first act to be voted off the X Factor final, which was eventually won by Matt.
The top four places in the internet survey all went to acts from the hit ITV1 talent show with boyband One Direction and Katie Waissel in third and fourth place respectively.
In fifth place was Paul the Octopus who became an unlikely star of the 2010 World Cup after appearing to correctly predict the outcome of games.
David Wilding, head of planning at PHD, the media agency which carried out the research, said: "Nobody would have been able to predict this list this time last year - except perhaps Paul the Octopus himself."
