Lohan ‘hospitalised with rare virus’
Lindsay Lohan is reportedly in a London hospital being treated for Chikungunya.
The Mean Girls actress picked up the incurable bug during a festive vacation to Bora Bora. She has contracted Chikungunya, a virus transmitted by mosquito bites that causes fever, joint pain and fatigue, claims TMZ.
The 28-year-old addressed the illness herself while still on her holiday in December via social media.
“Being sick is no fun. But happy new year everyone. Be safe. Love all,” she wrote on Twitter.
“In good faith with good people. I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation be safe and happy on the new year all #wildfox and a positive, healthy new year (sic).”
The star headed to the tropical island for a well earned break after her stint in the West End production of Speed-the-Plow in the British capital. She also posted a series of photographs on Instagram including one of her jet skiing.
“Before I got chikungunya,” she wrote in the caption, “use Big [bug] spray please God bless. (sic).”
TMZ added on Wednesday that Lindsay returned to London after spending a short time in Los Angeles where she filmed a car insurance commercial, but was admitted to hospital after becoming so ill she couldn’t walk.
Lindsay is currently in King Edward VII's Hospital and she is reportedly being kept in because she has a high fever and the joint pain is “unbearable”.
“As for her prognosis ... we're told the joint pain could last for months,” the outlet added.
