Lohan risks missing trial

Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan risks missing her Monday morning court date after she deplaned an evening flight from New York to Los Angeles amid concerns the aircraft was unsafe.

The 26-year-old actress initially made arrangements to make the cross-country trip from New York with her mother Dina on Saturday, according to TMZ.

But Lindsay decided to stay on the East Coast for another day and was pictured arriving to John F. Kennedy airport solo on Sunday afternoon.

The website reports her flight was delayed an hour amid concerns fuel was leaking.

Lindsay is believed to be telling friends she was among 35 passengers who rushed off the aircraft.

The flight took off but has since been rerouted to Las Vegas.

Lindsay was frantically attempting to make last minute travel arrangements at press time, according to the website.

The actress faces charges of reckless driving, providing false information to an officer and willfully resisting, obstructing or delaying an officer after her rented sports car crashed into a truck in Los Angeles last June.

Lindsay’s trial is scheduled to begin at 8:30 am local time on Monday morning.

If she misses her court date the judge overseeing the case is expected to issue a bench warrant.

Her flight drama follows reports the actress has yet to approve secondary counsel requested to assist her lawyer in the case.

Lindsay’s New York-based attorney Mark Heller was deemed incompetent to practice law in California during a pre-trial hearing and subsequently requested help from a local firm to proceed.

Paul Wallin of Wallin & Klarich told the Los Angeles Times on Saturday David Wohl was waiting on Lindsay to sign off on his involvement.

If David is brought in as lead counsel on Monday he is expected to request a delay in the trial.

Previous extensions requested by Mark Heller have been denied.

Lindsay can still go to jail for up to 245 days if the judge deems she violated probation on her 2011 jewellery theft case even if she is found not guilty of this latest set of misdemeanours.
