Longoria: Sister inspires me

Eva Longoria has praised her disabled sister for teaching her valuable life lessons.

The brunette actress has her own charity titled The Eva Longoria Foundation, which helps Latinas build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship.

Her organisation was one of the those supported at The Global Gift Gala this year hosted by Eva herself. The 38-year-old star was happy to discuss the inspiration behind her philanthropic gestures during the event.

"I grew up in a very selfless family. My mother was always giving back, so I was doing this work before I was famous. One of the most rewarding things that happened to me was growing up with my eldest sister, Elizabeth, who is developmentally disabled," she told British magazine Look.

"She is the light of my life, and has taught me more than I could ever have imagined. Becoming famous didn't change how I felt, it just gave me a louder voice and bigger spotlight to bring to the organisations I was helping."

Also in attendance at the gala was Eva's close friend, fashion designer Victoria Beckham. The British beauty was more than happy to help her pal at the event and is in awe of the hard work Eva puts into the foundation.

"I'm so proud to support the wonderful Eva Longoria at this year's Global Gift Gala. She truly is a beautiful person inside and out," Victoria gushed. "Her kind heart and charitable endeavours have helped thousands of children around the world. I'm blessed to call her my friend."
