Louis: Stop singing so much on X Factor

Louis Walsh believes the X Factor shows have “too much singing”, adding the formula needs a shake-up.

The Irish music manager is leaving after 11 years on the talent show. He insists he is happy with the decision but believes other changes must be made to ensure longevity.

"I had the most amazing time. I wouldn't take back a single minute," Louis told BBC Newsbeat.

"I'm relieved I am happy because I have a whole life away from it now. Singing shows are not what they used to be they have too much singing in them."

An array of famous faces have been tipped to take Louis’ spot in the new series, including Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, One Direction heartthrob Louis Tomlinson and singer Robbie Williams. Louis was happy to offer a few words of advice to frontrunner Nick.

"Nick just be yourself. Don't use any of my catchphrases. And do everything [Simon] Cowell tells you,” he laughed. "And hope you don't get the groups because if you do you'll be in trouble.”

Louis would love to see Robbie join the show and thinks the outspoken musician would be a hit with viewers. However, he claims the former Take That star has ruled himself out of the running.

“Robbie would be amazing. He would be my number one choice. But he’s touring and stuff - he told me he can’t,” Louis told British newspaper The Sun on Sunday. “It takes a lot of your time, so any big artist with big careers won’t be able to commit to it. Jon Bon Jovi would be great. I’ve thought this out. I know the time it takes. It was five days a week.”

Mel B has left the show after just one season, meaning there are two spots on the panel to be filled.

Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini look set to reclaim their seats and Louis has accused Cheryl of blocking former panellist Nicole Scherzinger’s return to the programme.

“Cheryl’s got a job! Why won’t she let Nicole be on the panel this year? Why won’t she allow Simon to have Nicole on the panel?” Louis fumed.

“That’s the truth. Because Nicole’s good. She won’t sign if Nicole signs.

“I thought Nicole would be great to get back. I really do. If I was going to hire any female, it would be her. Sharon Osbourne would be amazing too. She was brilliant.”
