Lovato confirms second Nick Jonas duet
Demi Lovato has recalled writing and recording a song called Afterglow with Nick Jonas in just three hours.
The pair teamed up for a track on Nick’s forthcoming solo album called Avalanche.
And according to Demi the musicians have created yet another song together.
“Recently we found, I had an hour, one hour free and then I had made other plans [when Nick hit me up and] said, ‘What are you doing?’ and I was like, ‘Uh, I have an hour, I’m just going to get food or something.’ ” And he’s like, ‘Come to the studio.,’ ” she recalled to MTV News. “I came to the studio, heard his new music and was obsessed and then it just evolved into this song that we recorded together on one microphone at the same time and it was very stripped down, very acoustic and it was a song called Afterglow.”
Demi was happily surprised to have cut such an excellent track with Nick at the last minute.
And she believes the spontaneous nature of this songwriting episode is evident in the mood of the tune.
“The song was written … and recorded within two to three hours, so needless to say, I cancelled my other plans and made my friend come to the studio to hang out with me but it was amazing and the way that we work together is pretty incredible,” Demi shared. “Afterglow is a song that’s basically about not knowing what’s going to happen but knowing that there’s feelings and just going for it anyways because you can foresee the glowing aftereffect of finally being together.”
Demi says Afterglow will “hopefully” be released to the public, but she’s not sure if that is going to happen.
Nick and Demi are longtime collaborators as they were co-stars on the Disney Channel’s 2008 film Camp Rock. Nick also took on the job of creative/music director for her Neon Lights tour.
