Lucy Liu: Checklists put me off

Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu is attracted to people who "don't have a checklist" when it comes to their personal lives.

The actress has a few staple characteristics she looks for in the people she surrounds herself with. Lucy - who is currently in a relationship with Will McCormack - believes there shouldn't be a regimented process about choosing the person you want to share your life with.

"I feel I'm attracted to people who work hard and have a sense of intention. Not to the point that they have no lives, but that they have a passion, as opposed to working just to make money. I'm attracted to people who don't have a checklist - or, if they do, it's internal not external," she told Psychologies magazine.

"I had this friend once who was dating a guy and she said, 'He ticks all these boxes, he's a doctor, he's a this, he's a that.' And I was like, 'Oh my god, I can't know you anymore.' It was alien."

Lucy says motherhood is very appealing to her. The 43-year-old star is in awe of parents who selflessly give up their lives for their family.

"I love the idea of having a child," she gushed.

"It's probably the most magical thing you can do for yourself. It's a matter of making space for that in your life and your heart. I think there's something wonderful about seeing people grow through their children. Because you have to stop thinking about yourself."
