MacLaine reveals her wild streak

Shirley MacLaine told Oprah she'd had many lovers

Shirley MacLaine, the Oscar-winning actress, has revealed that she slept with three men in just one day.

She told Oprah Winfrey's chat show that she had "very many love affairs".

Shirley, 76, who worked with Alfred Hitchcock, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jack Lemmon and Jack Nicholson, said: "I've had an awful lot of lovers... and a lot of awful lovers.

"I wasn't into 'sexcapades', although I tried it once. I had three people in one day. It was on a political campaign where everybody was doing the same thing, I just didn't want to be left out."

The Apartment and Steel Magnolias star, who has appeared in 63 films, had a 30-year open marriage with her then husband, producer Steve Parker.

"I had other affairs and so did he, but we were very good friends... I would never get married again. There's so much involved in marriage that's confining."

The actress kept tight-lipped about some of her lovers, saying: "Everyone knows that what happened on a set stays on a set. No-one talked."
