Mad Men star thanks show's fans
Mad Men fans love the Jon Hamm-starring show because they've been kept on tenterhooks, actress Alison Brie has said.
The actress - who plays Trudy, the wife of ambitious young advertising executive Pete Campbell in the US show - said at TV festival PaleyFest that viewers were hungry for more.
"It's been such a long time since people have seen Mad Men," she said of the show, which is about to return with season five.
"I think the trick is that we just starve the fans!" she joked.
"To make them love shows more and then when we bring it back it's such a bigger splash. It's the withholding."
Alison added: "Our fans our incredible. They have really been keeping us going while the show has been on hiatus.
"They were an incredible source of our support because we've been shooting the whole time and didn't have an air date and the show was up in the air. It could be disheartening, one might think.
"But actually it really kept us going. We were just feeling just as much in love with the show as we ever have been and to see the outpour of love from the fans really was something special for all of us."
Meanwhile, the hit show's creator and writer Matthew Weiner said the plan was for seven seasons, reported Zap2it.com.
He added: "I don't want to overstay our welcome. But this is the first season we went into knowing there would be more seasons. Trying to think about plotting out three seasons at once makes me sick. I know everything, exactly how it's going to end."
