Richard Madeley shared a kiss with his wife after he was presented with an honorary degree.
The former daytime favourite was accompanied by his daughter Chloe, wife Judy Finnigan and son Jack at the ceremony, where he was honoured for his work in the media.
He said: "The ceremony was such an uplifting experience and I felt quite emotional at times. It is such an important day for so many people and I'm proud to have been part of it - it's great to be in the company of so many deserving people."
The ceremony at the Corn Exchange in Cambridge saw the TV presenter given an honorary doctor of arts degree from Anglia Ruskin University, which offers degrees in partnership with Harlow College where he studied journalism.
He said: "I learnt a great deal at Harlow College in a very short space of time and absolutely loved it there."
Richard became a household name presenting This Morning on ITV with his wife for 13 years before the pair moved to Channel 4 where their show, Richard & Judy, ran for seven years.
The university's pro vice-chancellor Sandra Hollis said: "We are delighted to honour Richard for his outstanding career as a journalist and TV presenter, and also for the wonderful work he now does to encourage people to enjoy literature through the Richard and Judy Book Club."
