Maggie Gyllenhaal ‘flipping’ over Twitter
Maggie Gyllenhaal can’t stop tweeting since she joined the microblog two weeks ago.
The 35-year-old actress recently started an account on the microblog.
She’s been tweeting for only two weeks but already the actress can’t stop logging her daily thoughts 140 characters at a time.
“I just flipped over into being a little obsessed with it,” she told USA Today.
Maggie is also surprised at how quickly she’s been welcomed into the community.
Within 14 days she’s already amassed over 5,500 followers. Fortunately they have all had kind things to say.
“People started following me! People have been really, really nice," she said.
She tries to toe the line of being entertaining without sharing too much.
Maggie has a strict rule about sharing anything private, including details about her family.
"I definitely feel secretive and private and protective," she said. "But I did say, 'Go see this documentary which will completely change the way you look at the government,’” she recalled of a tweet about the film Dirty Wars.
Instead she focuses more on social issues. The actress loves getting fan feedback.
“I was curious [about] it and started to do it. Now I'm checking it to see what people say!" she explained.
She’s not immune to posting the occasional selfie. Just yesterday Maggie tweeted a picture of herself behind-the-scenes with two pals at Chelsea Handler’s US talk show.
“The dream team: @mollyrstern and @marctownsend getting ready for @ChelseaLately,” she wrote.
Maggie followed up that message with a link about ending the force-feeding of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay on hunger strike.
