Phillip Schofield set the gossip mills turning when he told This Morning viewers that "magic stuff" was going on under Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner's hat.

He sparked rumours that the acid-tongued judge had undergone a hair transplant after telling viewers of the ITV1 show there were "things going on under that hat".

Phillip said: "There's magic stuff going on under there but we can't talk about it any more but there is."

Jason is a controversial figure on the show. He was caught up in an on-air spat last week when actor Tim Healy, the partner of contestant Denise Welch, stormed the stage to defend her.

Tim confronted Jason, telling him "She's 52 and she's got four jobs", before the judge brushed him off.

He later used his Twitter page to accuse Tim of having "breath that smelt of stale p*** n alcohol".

Earlier in the series he caused a storm after a row with head coach and former judge Karen Barber.

Jason, who told Karen "If your opinion still mattered, Karen, you would still be on the judging panel", later apologised.

Other comments include telling Chloe Madeley she had a "baboon bottom" and saying ex-Neighbours star Craig McLachlan looked like he was performing with a "soiled nappy".

Your dry humour will be very popular. It's always difficult bringing a large group of people together. Everybody feels like they are walking on eggshells. After cracking a few jokes, you'll put the group at ease. Resist the temptation to make fun of relatives, especially the more sensitive members of the group. Nobody likes feeling singled out. Watching a light hearted comedy can also be a great way to generate a festive atmosphere. This is a time when people can put their differences aside.More
