Man charged after comedian Bill Bailey's tour bus reported stolen

A man has been charged with stealing comedian Bill Bailey's tour bus.

The 51-year-old was performing at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in October when the vehicle was taken from the theatre's car park.

Francis Whittaker, 35, of Liverpool, is also charged with burglary, car theft and driving while disqualified, Merseyside Police said.

At the time Bailey tweeted: "Lively crowd @liverpoolphil last night - shame our tour bus was nicked from outside the venue! So gig not too bad all things considered..."

The comic said two laptops and car keys were stolen from a production room in the hall along with the Mercedes Sprinter Splitter van containing crew suitcases and tour merchandise.

Bailey was touring with his latest stand-up show, Limboland, which begins a run in London's West End next week.

Whittaker was set to appear before magistrates in the city today.
