Eamonn Holmes is making his first steps to recovery after a double hip replacement last Thursday.

Yesterday the TV star tweeted a picture of himself on crutches just a few days after the operation.

Eamonn (56) is taking 10 weeks away from our screens to get back to full health after years of pain and discomfort.

The lifelong Manchester United fan had been getting some much needed rest while watching his team take on Chelsea yesterday.

After an early goal by Man United, he said: "After my Op I am sedated but please tell me I did not imagine that Jesse Lingard just scored a wonder goal v Chelsea!"

He added: "If I could stand that would have got me on my feet."

But with an injury time equaliser, the game didn't go quite to plan for Eamonn and he tweeted a picture on his crutches with the caption "On my feet ....sort of. I can only put the expression down to a mixture of drugs, pain and that late Chelsea goal."

His wife and fellow This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford told him: "Baby steps steps. SO proud of you...I won't even complain if you swear!"
