Manford scoops Born To Shine prize

Jason Manford scooped the top prize on the show

Jason Manford won the opera-tunity of a lifetime after he was voted the winner of Born To Shine.

The funnyman and his 14-year-old chorister mentor George Clark won over judges Denise Van Outen and Jason Gardiner, along with all 11 previous Born to Shine contestants with their performance of Maria/Brindisi.

Jason beat competitors including piano-playing Nick Moran, jive-dancing Emmerdale stars Tony Audenshaw and Lesley Dunlop, rugby player turned harpist Gareth Thomas and folk-singing actress Tracy-Ann Oberman.

An estimated £1,309,156 has been raised from the ITV1 show for Save The Children, to help children's lives around the world. The money raised in the Born To Shine finale has been matched pound for pound by the government.

The programme, inspired by the organisation's No Child Born to Die campaign, has seen celebrities challenging themselves by learning a new skill.

If you're not able to provide them with the luxuries they crave, there will be problems. Then again, you have the potential for being a good provider, so all may be well.More
