Manganiello ‘nervous about proposal’
Joe Manganiello reportedly described rumoured fiancée Sofia Vergara as a “one-in-a-million woman”.
The Magic Mike actor is rumoured to have proposed to the Modern Family actress during a Christmas vacation to Hawaii. While the couple are yet to comment on the speculation, a source has revealed that the 38-year-old was anxious ahead of his big moment.
“He said he wanted to keep it private just in case she didn't say yes," the insider told People Magazine."It actually didn't seem like he was joking about that. He did seem genuinely nervous that maybe this wasn't going to go well. He said this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity with a one-in-a-million woman."
The stars have been dating since July, and decided to head off on a romantic break to celebrate Joe’s birthday on December 28. But Sofia was the one who got the biggest surprise, which her beau had been organising for a while according to the source.
“This wasn't spontaneous. Joe definitely planned ahead and contacted the hotel weeks in advance to discuss certain things he wanted to do," they continued. "He didn't want to propose in a public setting, even though there are so many beautiful spots on the hotel grounds that have spectacular views and are well-known as places where people pop the question. But Joe said he didn't want to risk anyone walking by and witnessing it, and he didn't want to tip off Sofia by having security there shooing people away."
The couple were guests at the St. Regis Hotel in Princeville on the island of Kauai – an ultra-exclusive, five-star retreat, with Joe deciding to propose in their palatial suite.
“It has unobstructed views over the water and almost seems like you are floating on the ocean," said the source, who thinks he got down on one knee at sunset and included Champagne followed by several sweet treats. "Desserts were sent later on."
