Mariah confirms Vegas residency!
Mariah Carey hopes people will enjoy her performances at Las Vegas' Caesars Palace hotel.
There had been numerous rumours circulating that the 44-year-old singer flew into Sin City last week to sign a contract with one of their most popular hotels and venues.
And now the star has spoken out officially about her exciting venture, spilling the beans on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres show, airing tonight.
“I‘m going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special event for me,” Mariah smiled. “And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this, 'cause I’m gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album number ones, and this is now the updated version, with 18 of them.”
Ellen was surprised by the amount of songs, exclaiming: "Eighteen number-one hits. Eighteen number ones!"
And the crowd couldn't contain their excitement either, cheering as the hostess listed off some of the singles, including We Belong Together and Vision of Love.
But Mariah appeared slightly nervous at the prospect of re-visiting some of her most popular tracks.
"And hopefully other people will enjoy this," she added. "I’ve never done this before. Some of these songs I’m like, 'Really, I’m gonna do this again? OK.'"
Showing what a good sport she is, Ellen then proceeded to reveal a video clip of Mariah going undercover as a maid at the iconic Caesars Palace hotel. She surprised numerous guests by popping into their rooms in full costume and dusting until fans realised who it was.
After inviting the hotel guests to her show, Ellen suggested Mariah also extend the invitation to the audience of the talk show, to which they responded with a loud uproar of delight.
Mariah's residency will be filling the spot of Céline Dion's, as she has taken a break to look after her cancer-stricken husband René Angélil. The songstress will hopefully be returning at the end of this year.
