Mario Falcone quits TOWIE
Mario Falcone will no longer appear on The Only Way Is Essex.
The 27-year-old star joined the reality TV show in 2011 and many of his storylines have revolved around his on/off romance with Lucy Mecklenburgh, with the pair even getting engaged during a special airing in 2012. They split the following year.
The star has never been far from controversy, being suspended for snorting cocaine and for promoting diet pills. He's now decided that it's time to call it a day.
"I have had a great time on TOWIE and relished the many opportunities the show has given me but after 14 series, I feel it is time to move on and explore something new," he confirmed to British newspaper The Sun.
Fans have flocked to show their support for the reality TV bad boy, flooding Twitter with remarks about his decision. Many seem devastated that he won't be hitting TV screens anymore, with one saying she is "totally gutted" about the news.
The star seems to be taking things in his stride though, simply tweeting this morning: "Good morning world!! (sic)"
Mario's last scenes have already aired, with the star apparently telling bosses he wouldn't be back after the latest season ended last month.
Mario's most recent suspension came after he started promoting diet pills on social media, which flouts rules laid down by the channel that airs TOWIE. It meant he wasn't allowed to head to Marbella with the rest of the cast, leaving him devastated.
"I was a bit gutted not to go to Marbs this year but, on reflection, having seen all the dramas they had out there it was probably a blessing in disguise," he told British newspaper The Mirror at the time.
"I am pleased to be back filming in Essex and looking forward to having some fun with the lads."
It's been a difficult few days for Mario, as it was recently claimed he had split from his lingerie model girlfriend Emma McVey. It seems things have ended for good, with the pair exchanging barbed messages over Twitter.
"Never trust anyone... Sometimes even those closest to you are the worst, (sic)" Mario wrote on Friday.
"Trust?! Oh really, maybe I should let everyone know the truth...(sic)" she responded in a now deleted message.
