The MTV Movie Awards will take place on April 13 and the nominations were announced last week.

Now it's been revealed that Mark - who has starred in movies including Ted and The Fighter - will take home the coveted prize.

The Departed, The Basketball Diaries to Ted, Entourage to The Fighter, in front of the camera and behind - he's done it all and he's always memorable," Stephen Friedman, President of MTV, praised him in a statement. "Mark has captivated the MTV audience for over 20 years, and for this rare feat, we're proud to recognise him with this year's Generation Award."

As well as racking up the acting credits, Mark, 42, has also worked as a producer on films such as Prisoners and Broken City.

Previous winners of the MTV Generation Award include Jamie Foxx, who was presented with the prize last year, Johnny Depp, Reese Witherspoon and Sandra Bullock.
