Matthew Fox admits that he is incredibly ashamed of being arrested for DUI.
The 46-year-old Lost actor pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of intoxicants in Oregon on June 1.
Matthew takes responsibility for his crime and has fulfilled all of the legal requirements to address the offence.
"I was terribly embarrassed by that," he revealed in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"I really own that and have done every single thing the state of Oregon requires for a first-time DUI offender. I have learned a ton. I did four weeks of alcohol informational training. And just learned an enormous amount."
Matthew is in awe over a report that states over 50 per cent of people who get a DUI will reoffend.
The star never wants to go down that road again.
"I found that pretty astounding after what I've been through," he said.
"I will absolutely not be in the statistic. There is just no way."
Matthew has two children with wife Margherita Ronchi, a daughter called Kyle and a son called Byron.
He is currently promoting his new action crime thriller Alex Cross, which also stars Tyler Perry.
