McDonald gets teary over makeovers

Jane McDonald got emotional working on Star Treatment

Jane McDonald has confessed she gets through a "shocking" amount of mascara filming new makeover show Star Treatment.

The Loose Women star hosts the new ITV daytime show which sees her visiting work places around the country in her Glam Van and giving a nominated person a day of pampering before they show off their new look to friends and colleagues on a catwalk. The contestants often get emotional - and that sets Jane off too.

She told the TV Times: "I'm absolutely rubbish because I have to cry with them. I'd be useless on shows like Surprise Surprise or Long Lost Family - I'm in a heap by the end!"

Jane rose to fame on BBC docusoap The Cruise in 1998, and since then has had a string of presenting roles.

She revealed: "The key to success is what you turn down. I've turned down a lot.

"I've been very grateful for everything that's been offered but you have to be careful what you go into."

Jane added: "With Star Treatment I knew. I said, 'That's my show!'."
