Gillian McKeith had never watched I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! before going into the jungle as she does not have a television, her daughter has revealed.
The 51-year-old food expert has struggled to cope with life on the ITV reality show, especially the bushtucker trials.
Her daughter Skylar McKeith-Magaziner, 16, admitted she had only seen clips of the show before and did not think to warn her mother about the challenges she was likely to face in Australia.
Asked by This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby if she and her mother had seen I'm a Celebrity before, Skylar said: "No, we don't actually have a TV, so I've just seen some clips, but she has never actually seen the show."
"So, you didn't really know when she said 'there's this show, should I do it?' to say 'Oh mum, you're not very good with bugs, you're a vegan, you won't be able to eat anything'?" Holly asked.
Skylar replied: "Um, well, I kind of forgot about the bushtucker trials and, I don't know, it's just - I've never seen a full show, just clips."
Describing Gillian as a "really loving mum", the teenager added: "I think she's doing great.
"She's conquering all her fears and I'm really proud of her for doing this. I couldn't do it.
"She's a really loving mum, we're best friends and we do everything together, and I'm really missing her a lot.
"It's really hurtful when I see all the horrible things some people say, she really is an amazing person."
