Mel B too ill for X Factor final?

Mel B may have to miss out on this weekend's X Factor final as she has been struck down by a mystery illness.

The former Spice Girl's act Andrea Faustini is one of the three finalists vying for the winner's title, but he may not have the support of his mentor as she is said to be worried about passing on the bug to him.

A source told the Daily Star: "Poor Andrea is feeling abandoned. He is already nervous about the final. The poor lad is having to fend for himself backstage in the run-up to the biggest night of his life.

"But Mel can't help it. She is so poorly and may have to miss the final altogether."

An X Factor spokesman added: "There's a chance she won't make it, absolutely. It's bad timing but she can't help that she's ill."

Mel was forced to miss a press conference for the show, but fellow judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini stepped in to support Andrea and rubbished rumours that things had turned sour between herself and Mel.

She said of disagreeing over each others' acts: "We are very straight talking. Our approach is obviously very different on the show. Woman to woman. There was no calling out as such, it's something I would say to her.

"You get into that moment where you're passionate about your acts but it's not personal. In fact it's the least personal it's ever been this year."

Andrea said of Mel: "Having Mel as a judge has been amazing. I can say I found a friend in Mel more than a judge. She literally did anything to make me feel at home."
