Melanie C: I love to hate X Factor

Melanie C says she has mixed feelings about The X Factor

Melanie C has admitted she's not a wholehearted fan of The X Factor - despite former bandmate Melanie B being a guest judge on the show.

The Spice Girl said she had "mixed feelings" about Simon Cowell's talent juggernaut.

She told Heat magazine: "It's a show I love to hate, I do enjoy it, but I do a lot of swearing at the TV at the same time.

"It's a great opportunity for people to move forward in their career, but I think a lot of people get exploited."

She said of Mel B's appearance on the latest series: "I was very proud of her. I didn't think she was mean, I thought she was honest.

"She was probably more blunt than I would have the courage to be - but the great thing about Melanie is that she doesn't care what people say or what people think, and I think it's important in a show like that to have someone in that role."

The singer, who is playing Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, added that the rehearsals for the Spice Girls performance at the Olympics closing ceremony was the happiest time she'd ever had with her former bandmates.

"We rehearsed together for about 10 days and that was the best time that I have ever had with those girls." she told the mag.
