Melissa George denies she tried to kidnap her sons - report
The Good Wife star gave a statement denying kidnap claims to Australian magazine New Idea.
Melissa George has denied "totally fabricated" allegations she tried to "kidnap" her own children.
The former The Good Wife star split from French businessman Jean-David Blanc after she was hospitalised with bruising on her face following an altercation at their home in Paris last September (16).
George never addressed the incident in public, but according to the Daily Telegraph the first court battle - over the alleged assault - ended last month (Feb17) when a judge convicted both parties of assault. They are both appealing the verdict.
It has now emerged the former couple is fighting over legal restrictions regarding the movements of their sons Raphael, three, and Solal, one. Blanc is pressing charges for attempted kidnap, his lawyer Jacqueline Laffont confirmed, after George tried to leave for the United States six days after the assault last September (16). Border police allegedly led her and the children off the private plane lent to her by Russian friends as they were about to take off from Le Bourget, a small airport near Paris Charles de Gaulle.
However, in an exclusive statement to Australian magazine New Idea, the actress' representative said: "The allegations of Melissa kidnapping her children are fabricated."
"I am not taking these allegations lightly and it is in the hands of my lawyers," George herself added, reported Daily Mail Online. "I deny these allegations and all actions today and always will be in the best interest of my sons Raphael and Solal."
The 40-year-old star reportedly told New Idea she was unaware of the no-fly block, and that the trip to take the children to Australia had been pre-planned for a month and approved by Blanc, who she has accused of hampering her career by banning her from travelling outside of his native France with their two children.
The couple first met in 2011 at a BAFTA after-party and welcomed their first son Raphael in February 2014 before adding to their family with second son Solal in November, 2015.
Blanc has not yet responded to the news outlet's request for comment.
