Mendes, Gosling baby rumours spark fan meltdowns

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling’s representatives have yet to confirm the reports, but that hasn’t stopped fans from becoming distressed.

America’s OK! magazine initially reported his girlfriend Eva Mendes was seven months pregnant with their first child, but the claims were unconfirmed by the couple’s representatives.

Access Hollywood and People magazine followed OK!’s lead, publishing articles stating their sources have substantiated the hearsay.

And while a spokesperson for the couple still hasn’t addressed the rumours yet, fans of the Hollywood heartthrob made their feelings about Ryan becoming a dad crystal clear on social media.

“I haven't cried this much from a movie since the first time I watched The Notebook. Damn you Ryan Gosling,” the New York Daily News reports one Twitter user wrote.

Even celebrities got in on the gossip, as Mia Farrow’s son, Ronan, extended his congratulations to the alleged future parents on the micro-blogging site.

“Sending Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes all best wishes for a bouncing, healthy, annoyingly good looking baby,” he tweeted.

Eva, 40, and Ryan, 33, began dating in 2011 and co-starred as parents in 2012 drama The Place Beyond the Pines.

The couple more recently collaborated on Ryan’s directorial debut, Lost River, which premiered at Cannes in May.

Back in February, the actress called pregnancy rumours “ridiculous” after tabloids reported she told security at Los Angeles International Airport she could not go through a body-scanner during a pre-flight check because she was expecting.

“It's so ridiculous,” she told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres when asked about the incident, insisting she had other concerns. “It all started because I didn't want to go through the scanners at the airport. You know those X-ray scanners, which are really creepy? They basically see you naked, right? And not only that, but there's a radiation aspect to it, so I always opt out,” she explained.
