Michael Jace questioned after wife found dead
The Shield star Michael Jace is being questioned by police after his wife was shot dead.
The Shield actor's spouse April Jace was gunned down at the couple's home in the Hyde Park area of Los Angeles yesterday, with her body found at 8.30pm local time.
Michael is being questioned by cops, but he has not been officially arrested. According to Los Angeles Times, police are currently trying to determine whether it was an accidental shooting or a homicide.
"It looks to have started as a domestic-related incident," Officer Sara Faden told the publication.
No-one else is being questioned in relation to the incident.
It is thought neighbours put in an emergency call after hearing gunfire at the property. However, TMZ reports that shortly afterwards Michael also dialled 911 and told operators he had shot his wife. He was apparently told to stay on the line until officers made it to his home, which he did.
April had three children, with police confirming there were youngsters at the home when the incident occurred. As soon as news of the shooting broke, film crews swarmed on the area and comments began springing up on Twitter.
"#BREAKING Actor Michael Jace detained in connection to the shooting death of his wife. Jace best known for his role of a cop in The Shield (sic)," CBS' Joshua Crompton tweeted.
Michael, 48, had been married to April for ten years, with the pair celebrating the milestone last June.
The actor remains best known for his portrayal of police officer Julien Lowe, who struggled with his sexuality, in US TV drama The Shield. He has also appeared in Southland and The Mentalist, while he had a small role in the movies State of Play and Forrest Gump.
