Michael told son is not special

Michael Douglas’ campaign to visit his son in jail has failed.

Cameron Douglas, Michael’s son with ex-wife Diandra Luker, is currently serving time for heroin possession.

Because prison officials weren’t allowing Cameron any visitors, Michael and Diandra took matters into their own hands.

They started an online petition on to get access to their son, and urged celebrity friends such as Yoko Ono, Charlie Rose, Calvin Klein, and Diane von Furstenberg to sign it, the New York Post reported.

“We have not seen our son for over a year, and the government is telling us we cannot see our son for TWO YEARS!” Michael and Diandra wrote in an email to their pals. “Cameron has also been in solitary confinement for TWO YEARS! (For a non violent crime of possession).

“As parents we are fighting back. Our son Cameron has been sentenced to 9 yrs., the longest sentence ever handed out by the Federal Government for a non violent crime of possession. PLEASE help us by forwarding this petition after signature, to anyone you know who would like to help the cause (sic).”

But despite the petition gaining steam, it suddenly disappeared off the website with no explanation.

TMZ discovered the Drug Policy Alliance changed their mind about helping spearhead the petition.

Officials said they wanted to focus on widespread prison abuses and not individuals and didn’t want to be seen as helping only famous people.

As a result, Michael and Diandra’s attempts to see their son have been quashed.
