Michelle Dockery: I’ll never quit Downton

Michelle Dockery can’t imagine life without Downton Abbey, Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville

The British actress has played the character of Lady Mary Crawley since the beginning of the show in 2010.

Recently the much-loved period drama has lost a number of stars including Jessica Brown Findlay and Dan Stevens. Up until Michelle’s statement there had been speculation that she was considering quitting too.

“It amuses me more than anything, because it's all speculation, and I think it's down to fact the show has such a popularity. But no, I’m here till the end, whenever that may be,” the 32-year-old actress revealed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Michelle’s revelation accompanied the publication’s behind the scenes shots of the upcoming season of Downton, which were originally published in the June 27 issue of the magazine.

The photos show a number of Downton favourites including Dame Maggie Smith and Hugh Bonneville relaxing in between shooting scenes for season five.

The show recently made Emmy history as one of the most popular non-US TV series. Downton has received a record-breaking 39 nominations at the ceremonies and ten award wins since it first hit screens

"It was perfect for the zeitgeist. The Western world's financial picture has been so worrying that there was need to believe that the world was once a simpler place, when lunch and dinnertime were sacred," creator and writer Julian Fellowes explained of the success of the TV series.
