Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery is asking for privacy following the death of her fiance John Dineen.

Dineen, an Irish public relations executive, passed away at the Marymount Hospice in Cork, Ireland on Sunday (13Dec15) at the age of 34. He had been ill for some time, but details of his condition were not released as WENN went to press.

Dockery has released a statement to WENN asked for privacy, writing, "The family is very grateful for the support and kindness they have received but would kindly request that they are left to grieve in private."

A private funeral is expected to take place in Cork on Wednesday (16Dec15).
