Michelle Heaton strips to bikini to display C-section and hysterectomy scars

Michelle Heaton was invited onto Loose Women as part of the programme's Body Confidence campaign.

Michelle Heaton displayed her caesarean section and hysterectomy scars while appearing in a bikini on Loose Women on Wednesday (03May17).

The 37-year-old singer was invited onto the ITV lunchtime show as part of the programme's Body Confidence campaign. However, after Loose Women producers pitched the idea to her on Tuesday, she had to give it some thought before she agreed.

"My whole thing is about trying to get women to be more confident and comfortable in their own body, and be who we want to be," Michelle told the Loose Women hosts. "So I thought, 'If I don't do it, who am I to give advice to other people?'"

Wearing a blue bikini, Michelle showed viewers the scars from her two caesarean sections, following the births of her two children, and her 2015 hysterectomy, which she underwent after discovering she was a carrier of the BRCA2 gene.

While she usually wears high-waisted bikinis, labelling the hysterectomy scars something "between me and my husband", she opted to wear a low slung two-piece to display her scars.

Michelle also unveiled several scars on her bottom, which are due to her having hormone replacement injections every six months to help with her menopause since the hysterectomy.

"I have had six so far, and every time I have another one, I have another scar," she said.

Despite admitting she was "shaking" as she made her way onto the show, Michelle later described the process of stripping off on live television as "invigorating".

After the programme, Michelle took to her Instagram page to thank the Loose Women presenters, particularly lead panellist Ruth Langsford, for their support, writing: "Thank you everyone at @loosewomen especially the wonderful @RuthieeL and the girls for making me feel #bodyconfident #MyBodyMyStory."
