Midwife fans get festive treat

Miranda Hart and the cast of Call The Midwife will be back for a Christmas special

The makers of Call The Midwife will deliver a special Christmas edition of the hit show.

Millions of viewers tuned into the series about nursing nuns in the east end of London which featured stars Miranda Hart, Jenny Agutter and Pam Ferris.

The show was such a hit that BBC bosses commissioned a second series after just two episodes.

Viewers will see that next year after the special festive episode.

BBC drama controller Ben Stephenson said: "Following its huge success, we simply couldn't resist treating audiences to a Call The Midwife special this year - our Christmas present for all BBC One viewers."

The programmes are based on the memoirs of the late Jennifer Worth.

Executive producer Pippa Harris said: "As the nights draw in and Christmas approaches the residents of Nonnatus House pull together to celebrate the season in their own very special way.

"Christmas celebrates one particular birth, and so it's especially fitting for BBC One to pay a visit to these much loved characters, whose daily lives revolve around the joys and tribulations of childbirth."

Gemini:

You never do anything in moderation. Attend every fun party, accept every juicy offer and try all the delectable treats spread before you. Avoid unpleasant people and activities like the plague. This should be a time of enjoyment. Leave your list of chores at home. You can always attend to these jobs at another time. If you have a chance to show your creative work to a publisher, manager or agent, go ahead. This is also a great opportunity to go on job interviews, auditions and first dates.More
