Mike Myers: Parenthood is astounding
Mike Myers absolutely loves being a father and feels that Adam Sandler didn’t explain just how wonderful it is.
The Wayne’s World funnyman sought the advice of fellow comedian Adam before the birth of his first child, son Spike, in 2011.
Mike and wife Kelly Tisdale also have daughter Sunday together and couldn’t be happier with their broad of two.
“Are we ready to go down a very corny field?” he laughed to the US edition of GQ magazine when they asked what his kids had taught him. “Adam Sandler, when he heard that Kelly and I were pregnant, called me up and said, 'You're gonna love it - it's like falling in love for the first time when you're 12, but it's every day.' And I think he undersold how momentous it is.
“And I'm going to sound corny again - so corn alert - but I didn't know that there was that much love in me, to be honest. Dana Carvey [actor-and-comedian] says it's like finding a room in your apartment you didn't know you had.”
Since becoming a father, 50-year-old Mike has been noticeably absent from cinema screens.
After having huge success with movie franchises such as Austin Powers and Shrek, Mike has found taking time out to raise his family has been just what he needed. But he assures fans that he’s busy working on his next projects.
“Every time I make a movie, it's usually three or four years between. I write most of what I do and create most of what I do. I have four or five creations in my head right now, in fact. That actually takes the longest time, just to sort of figure out which is the one that is appealing to you.
“And two and a half years ago I had my first child and I really wanted to be present for that, I wanted to just take it in. And it's just been... I mean, it's the happiest time of my life. I had no idea. I knew I would like it, I didn't know I would love it this much,” he gushed.
