Miley Cyrus has released the music video for Real and True with Future, featuring Mr Hudson.

The 20-year-old singer, whose name has become synonymous with "twerking", released the clip for her new single with rapper Future on Monday.

The space-themed video was directed by English filmmaker John Rankin Waddell, better known as Rankin, and features Future on a distant planet where he stumbles upon Miley appearing unconscious in a space suit.

The singer is resurrected and begins writhing inside a glass room, wearing a silver bodysuit and covered in glitter, while close-ups reveal what Celebuzz reports is Miley wearing little more than silver body paint.

The video ends with the frame going up in flames as Miley dances.

The four-and-a-half minute clip, also featuring English singer Mr. Hudson, inspires images from Miley's last release.

The pop star was subject of intense scrutiny after she appeared in the nude while atop a Wrecking Ball in the video for her single by the same name.

The release of Real and True comes after Miley once again ignited controversy at the MTV European Music Awards in Amsterdam on Sunday.

Taking the stage to accept the Best Video award for Wrecking Ball, she shocked audiences by reportedly lighting up a marijuana joint.

Miley had been pictured at the local Greenhouse coffee shop with other stars two days prior.
