Gary Webster has told how he was struck down by a "significant heart attack".
The 47-year-old Minder star said he had "no idea" that his heart "was a ticking time bomb" until he fell ill.
He told Hello! magazine that he only went to hospital four days after he first experienced chest pains.
He said: "A senior doctor came in and said the test suggested to them that I'd had quite a significant heart attack and they were worried I was going to have another."
Webster, who is married to former Pet Rescue host Wendy Turner, underwent emergency surgery to open up a blocked artery and is now back home.
He said: "Wendy has been brilliant. She is a caring but strong person who can deal with a crisis."
Webster, who found fame when he replaced Dennis Waterman as Arthur Daley's sidekick in the TV show Minder, has also appeared in EastEnders, Hollyoaks and Family Affairs.
