Mindy Kaling: I feel so grateful
Mindy Kaling is “so happy” with her career at the moment.
The actress is best known for creating and starring in The Mindy Project. On top of that, she is voicing a character in upcoming movie Inside Out and is loving every minute of her career right now.
“These days I have been feeling so grateful for what I get to work on. Between Inside Out, The Mindy Project and writing my book, I'm so happy,” she told People magazine. “I know actors who are miserable no matter what they are doing and complain constantly about their jobs, and I just don't identify with that at all. These are such great jobs to have, and it doesn't feel like hard work when the material is so good.”
Inside Out is due for release in June and features an all-star cast voicing the emotions inside the head of an 11-year-old girl named Riley. Mindy stars as Disgust while Amy Poehler is Joy and Bill Hader is Fear.
The theme of the movie gave Mindy the chance to open up to the publication about what disgusts her.
“Lack of appreciation of what you have,” she said. “People with no grit.”
The Mindy Project has proven to be very successful for the 35-year-old since it began in 2012. While it’s a romantic comedy, Mindy admits it would never get as raunchy as the likes of other shows such as Girls.
“I don't love overly sexual comedy stuff, which really surprises people,” she confessed.
