Nadine Coyle struck by shingles
Friday, 26 September 2008
Pop star Nadine Coyle has contracted the shingles virus, her bandmate Nicola Roberts has revealed.
The Londonderry singer with Girls Aloud was due to be interviewed by Radio 1 host Jo Whiley along with the rest of the band.
However, the 23-year-old had to miss the promotional event as she is recovering in bed.
Nicola said: "Nadine's not very well at the minute and she's got a horrible bug, she's got shingles. So we all wish her well."
The interview was lined up to promote the group's new single 'The Promise'.
Shingles is an infection of a nerve and the area of skin supplied by the nerve
About one in five people have shingles at some time in their life. It can occur at any age, but it is most common in people over the age of 50.
It is uncommon to have shingles more than once, but about one in 50 people have shingles two or more times in their life.
It causes pain and a rash along a band of skin supplied by the affected nerve.
Symptoms usually go within two to four weeks. Pain sometimes persists after the rash has gone, more commonly in people over the age of 50. Other complications are uncommon.

I got Shingles at age 39 - not nice! On the face too where it can cause blindness - no cause for levity.
Good luck Nadine!

Hmmm....... it mentions the bit about "more commonly in people over 50" twice! Either not very good at writing an article or maybe trying to tell us something about Nadines real age!!
Oh ok I was kidding... get well soon...blah blah blah!
