Neil Patrick Harris’ NY hangover cure
Neil Patrick Harris employed an IV doctor to help cure himself and his friends of their New Year hangovers.
The 41-year-old actor, who will be hosting the Oscars later this year, employed the famous I.V. Doctor as he attempted to get over his hangover.
The former How I Met Your Mother star laid on the services of the medical professional at a private brunch at a Los Angeles residence on New Year’s Day.
“Everyone wore PJs, and I brought @TheIVDoctor, who rehydrated us all,” Neil tweeted.
Neil had seen in 2015 at his friend Diana Jenkins New Year’s Eve party, which had a winter wonderland theme.
The I.V. Doctor’s services certainly don’t come cheaply, however, with drips costing from $150.
The drip bags contain minerals, vitamins and other medicines which are reported to help “cure” hangovers.
However, after the craze of getting the drips ventured across to the UK from America, several scientists came forward to question the effectiveness of such measures.
“I can see no benefit other than rehydration, and the feeling that comes when someone gives you care in a sympathetic style in a comfortable setting,” Jonathan Chick, professor of health sciences at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh told MailOnline.
Despite the doubts surrounding vitamin drips, they are a popular method of hangover cures among celebrities.
Rihanna, Rita Ora, Madonna and Kelly Osbourne are all fans of having regular drips to help their health stay on track during busy periods.
It remains to be seen whether or not Neil will be indulging in IV drips in the run up to hosting the Academy Awards on February 22nd.
Following the news that he had been chosen to host the prestigious awards, Neil released a statement explaining just how excited he is about the prospect.
“It is truly an honour and a thrill to be asked to host this year’s Academy Awards,” he said in the statement to ABC News. “I grew up watching the Oscars and was always in such awe of some of the greats who hosted the show. To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true.”
