Neil Patrick Harris is “so happy” he married David Burtka.

The former How I Met Your Mother actor celebrated his first wedding anniversary with TV presenter husband David Burtka on Sunday. To mark the milestone, the 42-year-old posted a sweet snap on Instagram.

“One year ago today I had the pleasure of marrying David Burtka, I am so happy that I did—he's a truly wonderful man,” he wrote alongside the image of him and David laughing together. "Here's to many more laughs and adventures…! (sic)”

The couple tied the knot in a small Italian ceremony after dating for ten years. The pair have two children together, four-year-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace who were born by surrogate.

The little ones attended the ceremony along with Neil and David’s close friend Sir Elton John, who performed after the nuptials.

“It was nice. It was very small, intimate. Only 45 people were there," Neil shared on The View shortly after the big day. "I just wanted to be able to say nice things about David, to David, in front of the people who matter most to us…a declaration to share in front of our kids. I wasn't a crying mess or anything, but they're important words that need to be heard by the person that you're [marrying]...it was fun."

David isn’t as vocal on social media about their relationship. But earlier this year he did thank his husband for a holiday they took together.

“Thank you to the most wonderful man @ActuallyNPH for taking me on a trip of a lifetime!! (sic)” he wrote on Twitter.
