Claire Danes has said getting ready for a big awards night with a new baby wasn't as stressful as you might expect.

The Homeland star stepped out on the red carpet at the Golden Globes looking slender and stunning in a bright red Versace gown, just a month after giving birth to son Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy.

The actress, nominated for her role as CIA officer Carrie Mathison in the hit US show, revealed that she had left her little boy with her parents at a nearby hotel.

Asked by E!'s Ryan Seacrest if it had been stressful getting ready with her new baby around, Claire said: "It's been very soothing. He's a very calming presence - you can't get too hysterical around him.

"I'm deliriously happy and also struggling to be in this scene all of a sudden because I've been in 'baby world'."

Claire revealed she had been staying in Canada recently while her actor husband Hugh Dancy was working in Toronto.

She added that her arrival the night before had meant a very last minute dress choice for the awards ceremony.

She said: "I tried it for the first time last night and they did a miraculous job... I've been in sweat pants for quite a while so this is very exciting."

Capricorn:

Your dry humour will be very popular. It's always difficult bringing a large group of people together. Everybody feels like they are walking on eggshells. After cracking a few jokes, you'll put the group at ease. Resist the temptation to make fun of relatives, especially the more sensitive members of the group. Nobody likes feeling singled out. Watching a light hearted comedy can also be a great way to generate a festive atmosphere. This is a time when people can put their differences aside.More
