Nicholas Hoult: I need to mature for Bond

Nicholas Hoult would be keen to play James Bond but thinks he needs a few more years of experience.

There have been rumours online for some time that the actor could slip into the slick role of 007 when Daniel Craig puts down his martini glass.

But while there'd be no bigger honour, the 25-year-old thinks it's not quite the right time.

"I think I'm too young!" he laughed to Time Out magazine.

"He's got this film [Spectre] and then one more to go, hasn't he? So that's another five years? I'll only be 30, and I think I'd need another few years behind me to play Bond. Maybe a little bit further down the road, who knows? I mean, I grew up loving James Bond."

For now, Nicholas has Mad Max: Fury Road to concentrate on. In the continuation of the 1979 Mel Gibson classic, he takes on the role of Nux while Tom Hardy plays the title character.

Tom is known for being intense on set and Nicholas admits he's a very specific kind of actor.

"I've been a big fan of him for a while now," he revealed. "When you get to work with actors you look up to, the first thing you want to do is figure out how they do what they do. He's as dynamic in the scene as he is on screen. You're not quite sure where he's going to go next. He keeps it fresh. It's a lot of fun to do scenes with him."

Mad Max: Fury Road hits UK cinemas on May 14.
