Nicholas Hoult: I'm a terrible driver

Nicholas Hoult once drove over a co-star's foot - and then reversed back over it because he was panicking.

The British actor appeared alongside Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel in popular UK TV show Skins.

In upcoming action film Mad Max: Fury Road, Nicholas' character Nux has some fast-paced driving scenes, and the 23-year-old star admits he happily let a stuntman take over.

"When I drove a car in Skins in one of the first weeks I ran over Dev Patel's foot and then panicked and reversed back over it and got stuck on his foot," he recalled to Total Film.

"Then I was really shaken up for the rest of the day feeling terrible about it, so it's probably a good thing that they're leaving it to the professionals and not letting me drive the cars…"

Starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, the action adventure includes a host of impressive stunts.

Whereas Nick admits it looks like fun, he is relieved he's not behind the wheel.

"It's all well and good in my head and I'm like, 'I can drive!' But then you see all the other cars around and how much is going on and how talented all the drivers are - I dunno, I'd probably get all nervous and stall and panic if I was doing it," he laughed.

Mad Max: Fury Road is due for release in 2014.
