Nicole Kidman: I’m not all Hollywood

Nicole Kidman likes that she can step in and out of the A-list life.

The actress and her husband Keith Urban are parents to daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, and she also has adopted children Isabella and Connor with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Nicole and Keith spend most of their time in Nashville, which she much prefers to the stress of Los Angeles life.

"I have purposely realigned my life so that I'm not living in a fishbowl. I put my toe in the water with that and went, 'Oh my gosh, this is not for me.' I live in Nashville and have a completely different structure. There are times when I have to go back into that world, but then I can step out of it," she told British magazine Hello!

The couple have a strong marriage, although both have been open about the fact that it takes work. When they are apart they write each other love notes, and they try not to be away from each other for long, with Nicole explaining that their union is always her top priority.

"I feel loved and I feel absolutely that I'll give that back in exactly the same way. Because for me, our relationship, making it through, is more important than anything else," she said.

"But at the same time, I stay in that place of humility with it. I'm like, 'We just have to do the work to stay together.' And also, a lot of it is just pure enjoyment of each other. But it's a very tricky place to walk through."

One of the reasons the 47-year-old star is so happy is because she is so relaxed. She's stopped obsessing about others or what people think she should be doing, and instead just tries to be happy.

"I'm in my 40s and I'm not sure what 'having it all' is. Have I found some peace inside me? Yes. Am I grateful for the love in my life and the people that I am now sharing my life with? Absolutely. I have been in the other place as well and that's what life is. It's about contrasts," she said.
